Our story
The story.
Rainbow's End Marine was founded aboard s/v Rainbow, a 1978 Perry 47 ketch designed by famed yacht designer Robert Perry. We have sailed her in Galveston Bay and along the Texas coast. We have also chartered boats from Florida to Cuba, the British Virgin Islands, Italy, and Croatia. The apps in this fleet were built to solve problems we encountered on those passages.
Anchoring came first — because the standard scope ratios ignored seabed, winds, weather, tides, or your ground tackle aboard. We also wanted an anchor watch that we could monitor from shore and that would help us find our boat at night in a crowded anchorage. The rest followed from there.
The rest followed the same pattern: a real problem, a careful solution, and a commitment to honesty about what the app can and cannot do.
We are a small operation. Every app is designed, written, and supported by the same people who sail the boat. When you email us, a sailor reads it.

How we build
The doctrine.
Offline first.
Every app works without a signal and without an account. No login, no subscription, no registration. Where iCloud sync is offered, it is always opt-in — your data, your Apple ID, your call.
Honest about limits.
Every app says what it cannot do. A holding estimate is an estimate. A camera sight is good to a few miles. We say so.
No dark patterns.
No push notifications you didn't ask for. No upsells. No tracking. No dark patterns of any kind.
Built for the sea.
Designed for one-handed use in a seaway, readable in sunlight, and tested on the water — not just in the simulator.
